MUA Raises Concerns over Workplace Safety at VICT Terminal

The Ministry of Marine and Fisheries caught more Foreign Fishing Vessels which proven to conduct an illegal fishing without permission to Indonesian Fisheries Management. These policies and actions have become The Ministry’s commitment to constitute Indonesian marine sovereignty. The six foreign illegal vessels have been arrested by Vessel Hiu Macan Tutul 001 with Mr. Samson as the captain and Vessel Hiu Macan Tutul 002 with Mr. Ilman Rustam as the captain.

“Vessel Hiu Macan Tutul 001 succeeded to arrest four foreign illegal vessels during the operations of Indonesian marine and fisheries surveillance,” said Tasks Executor (Plt.) Director General of Marine and Fisheries Resources Supervision of the Ministry, Mr. Agus Suherman. Mr. Agus also explained these six foreign illegal vessels sailed in the Indonesian sea without legal documents required by the Indonesian government. They were also catching fish with trawl fishing gear which being prohibited by the Indonesian law.

Four out of six foreign illegal vessels recorded by the name: BV 4939 TS, BV 5156 TS, BV 93817 TS, and BV 93816 TS are originated from Vietnam. “Four foreign illegal vessels have been arrested at around 08.00 – 09.00 GMT+7. During the operations, 24 Vietnamese crew members have been detained also”, said Mr. Agus.

The other two foreign illegal vessels recorded by the name: KM PKFA 8888 (61,70 GT) and PKF 7878 (67,63 GT) are originated from Malaysia. Those two vessels being arrested by Vessel Hiu Macan Tutul 002 in ZEEI Malacca Strait at 15.00 GMT+7. During the operations, nine crew members from Myanmar have been detained also. The latest update reported those six foreign illegal vessels have been escorted to Marine and Fisheries Resources Supervision Quay for further legal proceedings. Four Vietnamese vessels escorted to Pontianak base and two Malaysian vessels escorted to Batam.
